Augustana alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago are invited to join the Golden Vikings alumni group at Homecoming this fall, part of a special tribute to the college’s senior class of alumni.
The Homecoming event will begin with a free inaugural luncheon for all Golden Vikings in Wallenberg Hall on Friday, October 13, and continue all day Friday with Homecoming activities that are structured with the Golden Vikings in mind.
Membership is automatic for all golden alums, and this year, with a new alumni club created in their honor, the college is organizing additional activities and reunion dates throughout the year to recognize their unique contribution to the college’s memory and culture.
Director of alumni relations Kelly Read-Noack ‘02 says the Golden Vikings have always represented the heart and soul of Augustana. “They are the living memory of who we are,” she said.
According to Sue Rector, assistant vice president of development, “At Homecoming, the 50th anniversary reunions are always a climatic moment.”
Rector explained that this year, the class of 1967 will be celebrating this milestone, as well as a new identity as Golden Vikings forevermore, and a new calendar of activities throughout the year to celebrate their enduring relationships with the college, and each other.
