Screening of "No Más Bebés"

The Women and Gender Studies Department will show the documentary "No Más Bebés".

The film tells the story of immigrant women who were forced into sterilization while while giving birth at a public Los Angeles hospital in the 1960s and 1970s. After a doctor blew the whistle, a young lawyer, Antonia Hernandez, brought suit against the physicians, the state, and the national government on the women's behalf.

The film recovers the individual stories of these Latina women, and conveys the role that immigrant women have played in the fight for reproductive justice in U.S. history.
