Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea

Dr. Marsha Smith, Professor of sociology and anthropology at Augustana, will facilitate a discussion of “Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea” by Barbara Demick.

The book follows the lives of six North Koreans over 15 years, a chaotic period that saw the rise to power of Kim Jong Il and a famine that killed one-fifth of the population, illustrating what it means to live under a most repressive totalitarian regime. (Amazon)

A limited number of books are available for loan on a first-come basis at the library information desk. New members are welcome.
