Higher education summer get-together

The Augustana College communication and marketing team invites colleagues from other colleges and universities in the region to our campus for a day of learning and networking.

The event from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. will be split between networking and short informational sessions presented by your peers. Experts in all areas of marketing and communication are invited.

Individuals from approximately 10 institutions of higher education will share insights from the stage. The agenda includes:

•    Wartburg’s “Casting Call”—and effort to find “real Knights” willing to be featured in marketing materials
•    Cornell’s magazine rehaul and the $500 survey tool that provided the data
•    Augustana’s insights after a web relaunch
•    Luther’s success in creating a logo guide anyone can understand
•    “Failure and What We Learned From It,” a discussion led by Pam Chozen of Knox

Optional emergency communication workshop

An optional emergency communication workshop will be offered the afternoon before the get-together. The three-hour workshop on Monday, June 26, will start at 3 p.m. The no-cost workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss current and potential threats to our institutions’ communities and reputation, and an overall strategy and tactics for how to combat these threats. Bring your crisis communication plans to refer to and refresh, and if you don’t have one, you’ll leave with a solid foundation for building your own. Sam Schlouch from Augustana will lead this session, and advanced registration is required.

Tour of CORE

CORE (Careers, Opportunities, Research, Exploration) is a grouping of services at the center of Augustana’s campus where students get personalized service to help them prepare for life after college. At 9 a.m. June 27, CORE leaders invite you on a tour of their facility, and they will provide an up-close opportunity to see why marketing student outcomes has changed significantly at Augustana over the last few years. The 45-minute tour is optional.

Share your work

Colleagues are invited to bring a couple dozen of their favorite print materials. Show-and-share tables once again will be set up.

Happy hour

Augustana staff invite you to meet for happy hour immediately following the summer get-together. This year’s happy hour will take place at Blue Cat Brew Pub in Rock Island.
