Augustana Percussion Ensemble Concert

The Augustana Percussion Ensemble's winter concert will feature music for marimbas, plus classic blues and jazz.

The program includes “Nagoya Marimbas” by Steve Reich and “Dance Etude No. 1” by Daniel Dorff, which feature minimalist music for marimbas and other keyboard instruments. Also on the program are an arrangement of W.C. Handy’s classic “St. Louis Blues” and “Encore in Jazz” by Vic Firth. These two pieces allow the ensemble to feature its lighter side.

Ensemble members include Maxwell Bestvina, Barrie Chileen, Caitlyn Costner, Victoria Frank, Camille Harris, Sean Harty, Ian Martin, Kjersten Nelson and Daniel Skelton. 

The ensemble, directed by Dr. Tony Oliver, presents two concerts each year featuring a mix of percussion music from the 1930 to today.
