Where is WVIK on the dial? [top]

WVIK broadcasts at 90.3 FM across eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois, and at 95.7 FM in Dubuque, Iowa and a small portion of southwest Wisconsin.

Can I listen to WVIK on the internet? [top]

Yes. Go here to find out how.

What is WVIK's mailing address? [top]

All of WVIK's mail goes through Augustana College's mailing address:

WVIK
Augustana College
639 38th Street
Rock Island, IL 61201

What is WVIK's fax number? [top]

Fax: 309-794-1236.

Is WVIK the student radio station at Augustana College? [top]

No. WVIK is a professionally-staffed public radio station, broadcasting throughout eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois. Augustana College's campus-wide student station is called WAUG. Listen to WAUG's Shoutcast stream online (Direct server address: 143.226.67.217:8000)

Who picks the music I hear on WVIK? [top]

Our local classical and jazz announcers select their own music, building a varied program on such criteria as time-of-day, musical era, instrumentation, general tone or mood, and (more than we're willing to admit) length.

I heard some music on WVIK that I really like, how do I find out what it was? [top]

Call us at 309-794-7500 or e-mail us. First and foremost, call soon after you hear it. The longer you wait, the harder it is to find. Note what time you heard it, what instruments were playing (piano, orchestra, winds, etc.), and any part of the announcer's description that you remember. The more information, the better. We can provide artist, label, catalog number, even the Universal Product Code, for easy ordering. We love music as much as anyone, so we're glad to help.

Can I get a copy of a local concert I heard on WVIK? [top]

Unfortunately, no. WVIK negotiates the rights to broadcast local classical concerts, and we own the tape it was recorded on, but we don't own the performance. That copyright is retained by the performing group. It would violate copyright law for us to make a copy for you.

Does WVIK broadcast Augustana College football games? [top]

No, but Augie football games are available online from Augustana's student radio station, WAUG. Listen to WAUG's Shoutcast stream online (Direct server address: 143.226.67.217:8000)

I have an APRIS Reading Service radio that is no longer needed. Who do I contact? [top]

First of all, thank you! APRIS receivers are expensive and of little use to others. We appreciate your effort to return it to us. Call APRIS directly at 309-794-7560 or send an e-mail. Diane Stokeld, or someone else in APRIS, will make arrangements with you to return the receiver.
