Martin Luther King, Jr. Special

WVIK celebrated the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the inauguration of Barack Obama with a special program hosted by News Director Herb Trix. Featuring rare excerpts of a speech Dr. King gave in the Quad Cities in 1965, Herb Trix also interviews community leaders, including Augustana College's Director of Diversity, Mark Anderson.The program aired Sunday, January 18th and Monday, January 19th.

Earth Charter Summit

2008 is the United Nations' Year of Planet Earth. On Saturday, October 11th, 2008, the Congregation of the Humility of Mary hosted the second annual Earth Charter Summit.

This I Believe
The "One Book One Bettendorf" project of the Bettendorf Library selected the book "This I Believe," a collection of personal essays edited by Jay Allison and Dan Gediman, and encouraged local writers to create their own "This I Believe" essays. In conjunction with this project, WVIK broadcast selected local essays, read by their authors, which are available for online listening.


COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD
WVIK's Community Advisory Board meetings are open to the public, and are held to provide an opportunity for input concerning WVIK. For more information, call (309) 794-7500.
