The Office of the Treasury (Glen Brolander Accession) collection consists of 6 series: Financial Records, Office Duties, Correspondence, Commercial, Control Boards of Activities and Development Fund.
The Financial Records series (1910-1919) consists of correspondence between the treasurer Professor Andrew Kempe and various Augustana students and parents regarding tuition debts and other financial debts to the school.
The Office Duties series (1910-1919) consists of letters from the treasurer regarding duties other than keeping track of tuition payments. These duties include: making arrangements with prospective students visiting the school to pick them up at the train station; settling housing arrangements with incoming students; booking space for events held on campus and fielding payment questions; responding to many graduates inquiring after their diplomas; answering questions about student employment on campus; and finally representing the School of Commerce at Augustana.
The Correspondence series (1911-1919) consists of letters of a more personal nature written to the treasurer Professor Andrew Kempe. A small portion of the letters is between Frances Howe and Kempe regarding the financial situation of a student named Arthur Johnson.
The Commercial series (1902, 1910-1919) consists of correspondence between the Augustana treasurer and various companies about purchases or services rendered for the school such as the installation of ovens or clocks as well as delivery of materials like chemicals for the chemistry lab.
The Control Boards of Activities series (1938-1948) consists of records of the funds allocated to each department for that academic year as well as meeting minutes of the deciding boards.
The Development Fund series (1947) consists of a folder of promotional brochures, donation information, financial statistics and logistics of raising enough money and building a Fine Arts Center on campus. The folder belonged to Birger [?] Swenson.
