ACQUISITION INFORMATION

This scrapbook was donated by Dr. Norman T. Moline, Augustana Professor on Geography, on 30 September 1997.

 

HISTORICAL NOTE

Heloise Dorthea Margarite Olson (Moline) was born on 22 July 1907 in Chicago, Ill. to Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Oscar Nils Olson. Dr. Olson was a professor at the Augustana Theological Seminary. Heloise enrolled at Augustana College in September 1925 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1929. During her tenure at Augustana, she was involved with the QT, or Kappa Tau, sorority; the Roosevelt Outing Club; the Berean Bible Class; the Oriole Girls'Chorus; the Handel Oratorio Society; the debate team; the Board of Social Control; the Augustana Observer; and Tau Kappa Alpha. Heloise married Rev. Ragnar Moline, a 1929 graduate of Augustana Theological Seminary, on 6 June 1931 in Rock Island. Heloise died on 11 Jan 1972 in Rockford, Ill. Heloise and Ragnar had three sons, including Dr. Norman T. Moline, Professor of Geography at Augustana College (1968-present).

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The Heloise Olson Moline scrapbook contains photographs, newspaper clippings, invitations, programs, letters, scorecards, ticket stubs, and fellow students' autographs. These document Heloise's involvement in extracurricular activities at Augustana College from 1925-1929.
