Beautiful Clear pleasant
day. Jam in office today
writing Capt. trying to
get somebody to take the
office & [illeg. seliere him?]
walked up town this
evening along Govmt. St.

Tuesday 16th
Pleasant Morn Bird,
sing beautiful in the
Park, and all nature
Seems Smiling, And what
happy World would this
be but for "man's in-
humanity to man."
went to Market this morn
I witnessed this morn'g rather
an unpleasant sight. just op-
posite, our office a Poor Woman
probably a Refugee sat reading
a letter which without doubt
contained bad news as she
