HISTORICAL SKETCH

The Alpha Delta Journalistic Fraternity was founded December 27, 1929 by members of the Augustana Observer. On March 8, 1930, the Illinois Alpha Chapter began at Augustana College. The group published a bi-annual magazine, Alpha Delt, and attended the National conventions in peoria, Illinois. Membership was based on involvement in the Observer.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The Alpha Delta Journalistic Fraternity collection contains documents and minutes related to the Illinois Alpha chapter. It contains 2 series: Minutes and Membership.

The Minutes series (1933-1935) contains secretary's books from the local Augustana chapter as well as notes on the National Convention in Peoria.

The Membership series (1933-1933 and undated) contains an initiation diploma belonging to Grant Hanson,as well as an updated list of regulations for the new secretary in 1933, election forms, and a letter of invitation for membership into the fraternity.
