HISTORICAL NOTE

L. E. Jones and J.E.W. Wallin were both Augustana College alumni. After graduating from Augustana College in 1897, J.E.W. Wallin earned a doctorate in psychology and went on to become widely published on the topics of educational psychology and mental disabilities. He served on the Iowa Board of Education and taught courses on educational psychology at a number of institutions across the Midwest. A member of the Augustana Alumni Association, Wallin established an award fund in memory of his younger daughter for graduating senior psychology majors who wish to pursue graduate studies in psychology. L.E. Jones corresponded frequently with Wallin under the auspices of the Augustana Alumni Association board and as alumni editor of the Augustana Observer.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The J.E.W. Wallin and L.E. Jones correspondence consists of one folder of material. The correspondence largely centers Wallin’s implorations to Jones to publish a bibliography of his work and Jones’s attempts to convince Wallin to contribute to the Observer. Also included is a series of letters, 1922, negotiating Wallin’s availability to speak at the class of 1897’s 25th class reunion.
