The Chi Omega Gamma, Beta Alumnae Chapter was organized on January 21, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois. The members met to keep in touch with alumnae from the Augustana College sorority, Chi Omega Gamma. The group took turns meeting once a month at the home of an alumna. The Beta Chapter also donated regularly to Augustana College’s Annual Fund. The original members included Ruby Breman, Dorothy Carlson, Mildred Carlson, Marion Dyce, Betsey Erickson, Joan Erickson, Alice Johnson, Doris Johnson, Eleanor Johnson, Barbara Malmer, Marian Nelson, Mary Olson, Karine Peterson, and Doris Smith. Alice Johnson, a 1942 graduate of Augustana College, served as president of the chapter in 1946 and again in 1965. On February 8, 1947, she married Arthur Holmer, also a 1942 graduate of Augustana College and a Lutheran pastor. |
