The Board of Control of Social Activities granted use of school buildings for social functions. Many of the petitions were from sororities and fraternities. Members consisted of both students and faculty. The Board of Control of Social Activities was active until 1937. The Board of Control of Campus Activities was in charge of permitting and funding not only social activities, but also religious activities, lectures and films, musical programs, etc.

According to its constitution, the Board of the Control of Public Meetings (initially called the Board of Administration) was created in order to efficiently coordinate programs and public events on the Augustana campus. The board consisted of President Andreen as well as four elected faculty members. Campus groups that planned public events such as Lyceum as well as the Boards of Control of Athletics or Literary Groups had to answer to the overseeing Board of the Control of Public Meetings.

The Augustana College and Theological Seminary Bulletins were posted to outline weekly events on campus. Events include various debate clubs, college faculty meetings, prayer meetings, choir concerts, or addresses from the president among other things. These bullets were originally catalogued in Augustana Institutions.

The Campus and Public Events collection dates from 1903-1941 and is divided into three series: Bulletins, Board of Control for Social Activities, and Board of Control of Public Meetings.

The Bulletins series dates from 1903-1918 and contains weekly events schedules organized by school year.

The Board of Control for Social Activities series dates from 1920-1941 and consists of meeting minutes as well as records and petitions.

The Board of Control of Public Meetings series dates from 1916-1927 and contains constitutional material as well as meeting minutes and correspondence.

The Campus and Public Events collection is divided into three separate series and organzied chronologically by topic within each series.
