The Olof Rudbeck Society, named after the Swedish scientist and author, was active on Augustana College’s campus from 1910 until 1928. As one of several Swedish literary societies on campus, the Olof Rudbeck Society was established to further the study of Swedish language and literature.  Membership to the society was limited to twelve male students with a good knowledge of Swedish and an interest in the language and literature of Sweden. The club conducted meetings in Swedish and sponsored the study and discussion of past and contemporary Swedish authors and poets. In 1926 and 1927, the club presided over Swedish declamation contests that featured selections from classical Swedish literature. Throughout its active years the Olof Rudbeck Society was led by Dean Jules Mauritzson.

The Olof Rudbeck Society records date from 1910 to 1928 and measure .75 linear inches. The records consist of the group’s constitution, minutes, and one Book Concern receipt. Because of the size of the collection, it is represented in one series.

The collection is arranged chronologically with the exception of the Augustana Book Concern receipt.
