Erleen “Lindy” Lindeman transferred to Augustana College in 1941 after completing her first two years at Bethany College. She graduated in 1943 with a degree in English. While at Augustana, she sang in the Augustana Choir and Handel Oratorio Society. She was very involved in religious organizations and was a member of the Lutheran Student Association, Religious Board, Campus Devotion, and Berean Bible Class of which she was president her senior year. She participated in the Women’s Athletic Association, Women’s League, and the Augustana Art Association; Lindeman was also a member of Phi Kappa Delta, the professional education honorary, and the Kappa Tau sorority where she served as treasurer in the fall of her senior year. |
The Erleen Lindeman scrapbook dates from 1941-1943. This scrapbook contains keepsakes and pictures of her time at Augustana. There are programs from concerts and events on campus as well as invitations to sorority events. She kept bulletins and handbooks from her time at Augustana. This scrapbook also contains pictures with friends at school and of vacations to California, New York and other locations. There is also a copy of a letter offering Lindeman a job in the Salina Public Schools in Salina, Kansas.
There are several miscellaneous items that may have fallen out of the scrapbook that are included in this collection.
