This collection was found in house near Sorenson Hall that was about to be torn down.  It was found with a scrapbook created by her friend from Augustan, Erleen Lindeman.  There is no information on how the scrapbooks came into the possession of Augustana College.

Ruth Erickson transferred to Augstana after completing her freshmen year at Aurora College.  She graduated in 1943 with a degree in English.  She was a member of the Lutheran Student Association, the Berean Bible Class (a women’s Bible study), the Women’s League, the Women’s Athletic Association, and was a student representative of the Augustana Art Association.  She was a member of the Kappa Epsilon Nu sorority, where she served as the secretary her junior year and as president her senior year.  She also served on the Intersorority Council as a senior.  She was the secretary of the Dormitory Club her junior year and on staff for the Rockety-I her senior year.
In a 25th anniversary KEN newsletter from 1950, she reports that she had been teaching 3rd grade for the 7 years since her graduation

The Ruth Erickson scrapbook collection dates from the early 1920s to 1950.  It consists of a photo album and two scrapbooks of her time at Augustana.
The photo album contains undated pictures of Erickson as a child and her graduation from high school in 1939.  Pictures from her time at Augustana consist of campus building, the Augustana Choir, graduation, and her friends.   After her time at Augustana, she included pictures of vacations with her friends, her 3rd grade class in 1951, and weddings of her friends.
The scrapbooks include newspaper clippings; a map of campus; handouts and programs from campus events; pictures of campus; and keepsakes such as invitations, awards, schedules, corsages, membership cards, and graduation cards.  She also kept information about pledging and rushing and mailings from the 25th anniversary of the Kappa Epsilon Nu sorority.

The photo album and scrapbooks are maintained in original order.  This collection has been organized into two series: Photos and Scrapbooks.

The Photos series contains the photo album dating from the early 1920s to 1951.  There were loose photographs tucked into the binding of the photo album that have been removed and placed in protective sleeves and kept with the rest of the album.

The Scrapbooks series consists of two scrapbooks of Erickson’s time at Augustana.  Due to the large size of the scrapbooks, they are located in the oversize shelves.
