CUSTODIAL HISTORY
The Andrew J. Alford Papers were donated to the Augustana College Special Collections by the Minnesota Historical Society in July 1968.
 
HISTORICAL NOTE

Andrew J. Alford was born in Sweden and moved to the United States where he became a naturalized citizen November 21, 1867. He died in late 1878.

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The Andrew J. Alford papers date from 1855-1895 and measure 2.5 linear inches and is divided into three series.

The Correspondence dates from 1855-1895 and contains personal letters between Alford and his family as well as correspondence concerning professional and monetary issues.

The Official Documents series dates from 1865-1890 and contains land titles and insurance policies as well as an official Naturalizaition certificate and receipts. There is also an undated design for a country villa.

The Photographs series contains one undated photograph of Andrew J. Alford.
