I am looking for a particular
poem. How do I find it?
If you know the title, first
line, last line, author or subject of a poem and want to know where you can find
it, use an index to poetry. This will point you to the anthology, collected or
selected work where the poem appears. Note: a call number with “REF” refers to
the Reference section on 2nd floor of the library.

Where can I find biographical
information and critical commentaries on poets?
Contemporary Literary Criticism (over 200 volumes)
REF PN771.C5
This huge set of volumes contains reprinted criticism of writers. To find a poet, look in the author index in the latest volume on the shelf. This index will tell you what individual volumes contain material on that poet. (A poet may be included in more than one volume.) You will find the full text of book reviews, interviews, and critical commentary on the poet. Look in the front of the volume to see how to cite CLC in your paper.
Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism (161+ volumes)
REF PN771.G27
If you are looking for information on a poet who is deceased, try this set rather than CLC. The format is the same as CLC.
