A ready reference to the people, legislation, military operations, and controversies important to American participation in the Vietnam War. Appendices include a glossary of acronyms and slang expressions, a bibliography, a map of the Republic of Vietnam in 1975, and a chronology of the war.

Encyclopedia of the Vietnam War

A one-volume encyclopedia with maps and pictures that informs the reader about the people and events of the war and its surrounding history. Long essays are interspersed with shorter ones. A synoptic outline provides an entry to the encyclopedia by concept; under the concept “countries and places,” for example, you will find the relevant articles listed.

A three-volume encyclopedia of the war that includes a glossary and chronology. Volume 3 reprints primary documents related to American involvement in the war.  

Writing About Vietnam: A Bibliography of the Literature of the Vietnam Conflict

As of 1988, this book gathers together the most complete list of materials written about the Vietnam conflict, not including “histories, documents, and political science treatises.” It does include such materials as novels, poetry, and literary criticism.

The Vietnam Experience: A Concise Encyclopedia of American Literature, Songs, and Films

Provides a guide to the 44 “most notable” creative works about the Vietnam War, including The Things They Carried. An appendix lists 275 additional works that deal with the war.
