Public Patron Library Card Policy
While the Tredway Library is not part of the local public library system, we do allow people from the local surrounding area to use our materials. The following items are required for public patrons to apply for a library card to check out Augustana materials:
- Current picture ID, e.g. driver's license
- Verification of address, e.g. recent letter or bill
- Unexpired library card from one of the following counties: Rock Island, Whiteside, Henry, (Illinois) Scott, or Muscatine (Iowa)
Photo ID will be required each time a public patron wishes to check out.
Note: Applicants must be at least 13 years of age. These cards are for personal use only. Each member of a family who wishes to check out should apply for their own card. For more information, contact Christine Aden, Head of Circulation, at 309-794-7819.
Library computers are to be used primarily for academic research by Augustana students, faculty, and staff. Persons not associated with Augustana College may use library computers on the second floor of the library for academic research. Visitors must sign in at the Reference Desk for a temporary log-in. Valid photo identification may be required.
In order to prioritize access to library resources for our students, faculty, and staff, non-Augustana patrons may be limited in their access or refused access during times of heavy use. Such occasions may include, but are not limited to, class visits to the library for research instruction, the 10th week of each term, and final exam periods.
Effective February 1, 2008
Viewing pornography on these computers violates Augustana’s policy on sexual harassment by creating a hostile environment. Patrons using the computers for this purpose may be asked to leave the Library immediately.
Children Disruptions Policy
Although we welcome all of the community to use our facility for study and research purposes, the Thomas Tredway Library will not tolerate disruptions from children in the library. If children are in the library and are creating a disruption:
-
A supervisor or librarian will ask the parent to please have the children stop doing whatever is creating the disruption and remind them that the library is a place for quiet study and research.
-
In the absence of a parent, the children themselves will be told.
-
If the disruption continues, campus security will be called.
Updated February 7, 2008.
